CTET Book Overview

About the Exam

 

The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Delhi under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. Qualifying CTET makes individuals eligible to apply for the post of a teacher in any Indian government schools. The main objectives of conducting CTET are to:  

 

  • bring national standards and benchmark of teacher quality in the recruitment process.
  • encourage teaching institutions to improve their performance standards.
  • send a positive signal to all stakeholders that the government lays special emphasis on teacher quality.

  

Structure of the Exam

 

All questions in CTET are Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), with four alternatives out of which one answer will be correct. Each question carries one mark and there will be no negative marking.

 

There will be two papers of CTET.

  • Paper I is given by individuals who aspire to be a teacher for classes I to V.
  • Paper II is given by individuals who aspire to be a teacher for classes VI to VIII.

 

The time duration is of 2 hours 30 minutes for each paper.
